Our team and myself are exploring some advanced applications in this training, mainly in the software’s Autodesk Civil 3D and Infraworks. I would like to share with you all which I felt more important, interesting and useful tool i.e., Autodesk Subassembly Composer in this post.

What is the Autodesk Subassembly Composer?

Subassembly Composer is a powerful tool for generating custom subassemblies for your corridors in AutoCAD Civil 3D software. By thinking about what your project needs in each phase of the project design you can make subassemblies that work for you. In conceptual design, you want to understand the site and visually see what you have to work with. As you progress into preliminary design, you want to gather information and start to make decisions to generate your design concept. As the design progresses, subassemblies can start to make more decisions for you. And with final design around the corner, you will finesse your design with a complete composite assembly with both your custom subassemblies and out-of-the-box subassemblies working together. Why the Autodesk Subassembly Composer needs to be used for creating subassemblies though the default subassemblies are available in the Civil 3D Tool Palette?

Because the default subassemblies which are available in the Civil 3D Tool Palette are not conditioned as we required. It means in the subassembly composer we can give Targets, Codes and Decisions to the subassemblies based on our project requirement.

Corridor targets F1 2008 pc games. are basically three types, which are Offset or Width, Elevation and Surface targets. By giving these targets to the subassemblies using subassembly composer, we can easily model the complex corridors like retaining walls in the bridges, widening carriageways etc.

Codes play crucial role in the Civil 3D modelling. Codes are also basically three types which are Point, Link and Shape codes. These codes will help in the surface creation and feature lines creation in the corridor modelling. Corridor surfaces are required in the Earthwork (Cut/Fill) calculations and Corridor feature lines are helpful for the demarcating all the edges in the corridor plan. Shape codes are mainly helpful in the pavement material (crust) calculation. The figure below is shown the Codes and Targets.

Decision is used to specify two geometry options, the application of which depends on a specified condition. Decisions can use conditions such as true/false, yes/no, and cut/fill. A decision enables you to specify a condition, and then define a True branch and a False branch in the flowchart:

o If the specified condition is met, the geometry in the True branch is drawn.

o If the specified condition is not met, the geometry in the False branch is drawn.

What is the extent of difficulty of subassembly composer for the beginners?

After worked over a month, I can say it is very user friendly and understandable for the engineers and designers. Initially it takes some time to understand the interface. Once we start creating various subassemblies then we can go for complex subassembly creations with suitable logics
